Good Backup Utility

The Good Backup Utility was a commercial product of Tidbit Software Engineering Co., and is now available directly from the author as shareware.

"Good" is an application for the Atari ST series computers that is used to create and maintain reliable disk backups. "Good" copies from one disk to another, and allows you to create a "set" of backup disks from a single original, such as a stack of floppies, or a pile of Syquest cartridges. "Good" bypasses the TOS ROM code for the file system, and therefore is immune to the "40-folder" problems that plague other low-cost backup solutions.

Read my article on why I think "Good", or another program like it, is the correct backup solution.

Preview or copy the "Good" manual if you want to.

Read the Version 1.13 release notes.

Download the file GOODV1_3.TOS Good Backup Utility, which is a self-extracting ZIP archive. (It extracts only on the Atari ST.) The ZIP archive contains the manual in HTML format, as well as GOOD.TOS, CHECKSUM.TOS, and a custom "NeoDesk" icon for GOOD.TOS.

The shareware fee is $15, by cash or check, or PayPal. Please write for address.
