- The Tascam M35 mixing table, show with the carpeted workbench it is mounted in.
- A blurry closeup of the right half (the last eight channels) of the mixer. You can also see the Aphex model 106 four channel compressor. it is a four-bus console. We use two for the tape, and two for the PA.
- The closet behind the console is used to mount most of the other gear, including the two tape decks, the patch panel, and the radio transmitter, as well as storage for tools, microphones, tapes, etc. The Sony receiver is our primary PA amplifier. It has two 125 watt channels of hi-fi clean sound, far more than is needed in our small hall. The console is spliced into the tape loop.
- We have two tape decks. The autoreverse Sony records in both wells, and is used to tape the services. The second deck, a Sanyo, is used for some playback and for taping some classes. The Sony is on two busses, and the Sanyo on the other two.
- Another tape deck shot.
- The patch panel top row leads to all the microphone sockets around the worship hall, and the mixer outputs. The bottom row leads to the mixer inputs, as well as the tape and amp inputs.
- The podium mic, a supercardoid (highly directional) AKG condenser, uses a surface mount XLR socket. The phantom power comes from a wall mount transformer on the back wall. (Our console doesn't provide phantom power.)
- This is my favorite way to mic the guitar. This is also an AKG mic, with a special clip to hold it on the instrument. Notice the wire has both an XLR and a quarter inch socket. This is a special 50' wire that carries two channels for our "wandering minstral" worship leader. He wears a headworn microphone, and plays guitar, at the end of 50' of wire.
- Here are some of the audio connectors in the building wiring. The other end of the wire from these connectors is in the patch panel.
- This shot shows some of the construction of the mixing table. The brown metal legs are from a "workbench kit". Note the screws for mounting the carpeting. It is glued on the other side. Also, this picture shows the "snake" of cable leading back to the patch panel in the closet.
- This is another shot of the table construction. This one shows the end of the "joist" that is attached to the bottom of the workbench surface to provide a rigid support beam that can carry the weight of the mixing table.
- And another.
- This is a block diagram showing how the entire system is interconnected. It shows where the compressor, EQ, and spectrum analyzer fit in. It is a little bit out of date, since it doesn't show the Roland MA12's that we now use as stage monitors, nor does it show how we connect the PowerBook 5300 that is used to create the RealAudio material for the internet.
