Jeff at Work

Jeffrey's daytime job is at Avid Technology, in Tewksbury Massachusetts, where he works as a Software Engineer on the audio features of Avid's line of film and video non-linear editing products.

If you are inside Avid's firewall, you can (and should) visit Jeff's Avid Internal Web Site, or look up Jeff's "wherefore" database entry.

Jeff's office:

Below is a picture of the inside of Jeff's office.

You can call Jeff in his office at 1 (978) 640-5275, or end Email to JeffreyLomicka at comcast dot net.

The Timecode AVX plug-in:

The Timecode AVX plugin can be used to burn-in timecode. It works with Avid Media Composer, Symphony, NewsCutter, and Avid ExpressDV version 1, both Mac and NT versions. What's available here is an older version of the "TImecode" plugin that appears in the more recent releases of Avid editors in the Illusion effects bundle. It is a bit newer than the version that appears in the Goodies folder of the older installation CDs.

The latest free version is 1.5, which was finished on January 4, 2000. Merry Christmas. Version 1.5 fixes a serious bug that left junk in the bottom two scanlines. It also makes the field indicator less obnoxious, and uses ++" and "&" instead of ":" in the feet and frames mode, and gives you a choice of four different fonts.

VERY IMPORTANT: If you are using a Macintosh based Media Composer older than version 8, or Avid Express older than version 3 (in other words, if your hardware is the "ABVB" hardware), then you cannot use version 1.4 or 1.5 of the TImecode plug-in. You must use either 1.0 or 1.3. The newer ones will not appear in your effect palette

EVEN MORE IMPORTANT: If you are using Avid Express DV version 3.5 or later, or any MacOS X version of any Avid editor, you cannot use these downloads. The Timecode effect is part of the "Avid Illusion" effects package. Look there for it. (The Illusion effects package is an extra cost effects option for Express DV.)

The 1.5b build on the Mac is now identical to the corrected 1.5a on NT.

The Macintosh version 1.5b is http://members.mva.net/lomicka/avid/avx/timecode/mac/timecode15.sea.hqx.
The Windows NT version 1.5a is http://members.mva.net/lomicka/avid/avx/timecode/NT/timecode15a.zip.

If for some reason you don't like the latest version, there are some older ones here too. Version 1.4 is the same as 1.5, but doesn't have any font choices. Version 1.3 added feet & frames mode.

The Macintosh version 1.4 is http://members.mva.net/lomicka/avid/avx/timecode/mac/timecode14.sea.hqx.
The Windows NT version 1.4 is http://members.mva.net/lomicka/avid/avx/timecode/NT/timecode14.zip.
The Macintosh version 1.3 is http://members.mva.net/lomicka/avid/avx/timecode/mac/timecode13.sea.hqx.
The Windows NT version 1.1 is http://members.mva.net/lomicka/avid/avx/timecode/NT/timecode11.zip.
The Macintosh version 1.0 is http://members.mva.net/lomicka/avid/avx/timecode/mac/timecode10.sea.hqx.
