Comments: I was a lifelong Haverhill resident until 2 1/2 years ago. Never *ever* thought I'd say this, but I sure miss Haverhill! The beautiful Victorian houses in the Highlands, the many ponds for fishing and ice skating, being close to the beach and mountains, the foliage driving up Hilldale Ave in October, a winding river leading to the ocean... and of course the family and friends we left behind. Can't wait to come home to New England!!!

Comments: I am a direct line descendant of "Old" Robert Ayer b. 1625 in England,who is mentioned in Francis W. Cronan's book "Red Sunday". He was my 8th Great Grandfather and lived in Haverhill from 1635 until his death in the early 1700's. Capt Samuel Ayer (Robert's son) b. Nov 11, 1654 in Haverhill, who was Haverhill Garrison Commander on August 29, 1708 and who was killed on the battlefield that day when the French and Indians attacked the Garrison, was my 7th Great Grandfather. Samuel's son, James Ayer b. Oct 27 1686 in Haverhill, who was with his father on the battlefield that day, was my 6th Great Grandfather. James' son John Ayer, b. Apr 18, 1714 in Haverhill was my 5th Great Grandfather. John's son Moses Ayer, b. Dec 20, 1748 in Haverhill was my 4th Great Grandfather. Moses' son Dr Moses Ayer, b. Mar 21, 1785 in Haverhill, was my 3d Great Grandfather. Dr Moses' son Moses Henry Ayer, b. Aug 23, 1809 in Norway, ME was my 2d Great Grandfather. Moses Henry's son Samuel Blake Ayer Sr, b. Oct 6, 1844 in Sangerville, ME was my Great Grandfather, Samuel Sr's son Luther Henry Ayer, b. Feb 25, 1873 in Thornton, WV was my Grandfather and his son Samuel Blake Ayer II, b. June 6, 1906 in Knottsville, WV was my father. I was b. March 6, 1934 in Cherrydale, Va. So this is my tie to New Englands' early town - Haverhill, MA.

and that lived in Haverhill before the war. I lived on Green street,
off summer. Used to enjoy collecting chestnuts from the many trees,
until a time when something affected the trees and they were all

But I am still drawn to the charm of Haverhill and loved the web site.
