Close to: NH (tax Free) 10 minutes, close to the Beach (but not to close for storms) 20 minutes, close to every major HW (495,93, 95,Rt 1 & 128) lots of golfing, fishing, skiing, Downtown dinners or local fine restaurants, close to the Mountains 30 minutes, and Only 40 minutes to Boston (one of the greatest Cities in the US). Also, It's between Logan and Manchester Airports 40 minutes either way in case one closes due to weather or you are tired of the Boston traffic scene. There is a great River for water sports and a Train Station. Best of all if you think it sounds too busy, "it's not". Haverhill is so big that you can still find country back roads right off main street to walk, bike, or just Sunday drive.
I've thought of moving, but with above average school system, public works, city services, parks, and lakes, in addition to the advantages I listed above. I have not found anywhere that compares!
Trust me, I've been to 47 states with my job. Haverhill is a great place to live.

Comments:   My wife and I recently visited Haverhill, the hometown my mother grew up in. She was born in 1907 to
Mabel and Herbert Senter. Mr. Senter worked as a shoe worker in one of the big factories here.
We also struck gold when we found the house she was born in, on Whittier Rd. We were very
happy to see the house kept in such good repair. It pays to study the old family photos because
in those early days they did not list house numbers. Later on Mom and the family moved to
Groveland, grew up and finished at the old Groveland High. Mr. Palmer was her Principal! By the
way, does anyone remember taking the old trolly to go shopping at Mitchell's and Lesslie's?

Comments:   Hi, I was born in Bradford and attented Wood, Cogswell,and Greenleaf Schools back in the 40's. I love thinking of my "hometown". I remember the 4th of July weiner roasts and bonfires, the croquet tournaments, and baseball games in the playground behind the Wood School. We had to go "overtown" to shop for major purchases, riding the "Bradford Loop" or the "Ward Hill" buses. I'd like to chat with anyone who has similar memories.

Comments:   Going through old pictues recently, saw smiling faces of Brownies and May Procession little girls from St. James Grammar School. I attended St. James from 1952 until we left for NH in 1959 when I was in the 7th grade. My sister, Joanne, was going into her Jr. year of high school. I was born at Hale Hospital, lived on corner of Auburn and Dover St., (beginning of the "Acre") and later moved to Mt. Vernon St. My dad worked at the Gazette and mom at Western Electric. We had neighbors: Gay Kimball, Janet, Bobby and Billy Boisselle, Peggy Grady, Betsy Nelson, Joanne Delbaney. Anyone of you out there?
