Comments:   Born in 51 in Haverhill,lived there til 75,will always be home,it has a rich history.I can rememberwalking from bailey st to summer up to plugs pond spending the day and walking back,my father was a driver for town taxi for 30 yrs,he also fixed the cars.I have some good childhood memories but also some very bad ones.But i still miss it.The pictures were great,I use to sit on hannahs arm and shoot my make believe arrows at the people going by,we listened to band concerts in the park and i remember when JFK came to the demorcrat headquaters at corner of bailey st.another thing i remember are the parades.we had some really big parades for such a small city, will keep an eye on this website to see whats new.To the other person who said thatit was a dump, i think all cities and towns have some parts that are nice some not.

Comments:   Lived in Haverhill until I was 13. Would have graduated HHS in 1960. Attended the Annex in the 9th grade - the year we moved. My Dad was the minister at the Universalist-Unitarian Church on Kenoza Ave. Pepperidge Farm white bread was a 25 cents at the A&P. Life was good! Would love to hear from any Burnham or Fox school classmates.

I live in New Orleans, LA and have been in the military for the past 17 years serving as a reservist on extended active duty. I think I'm gonna stay here and enjoy the seaesonal change via airlines! Comments:   Well this is quite a cool discovery. I have always wondered what Haverhill USA was like and what a great way to find out. It's so big! Haverhill Suffolk is only a town but I guess it has some pretty good history. I am a member of a Haverhill theatre group 'Centre Stage Company' and we recently performed a play at Haverhill town Hall Arts Centre called "2000 Years of Haverhill". I believe some of Haverhill Massachusetts' residents actually were over and came to see it. There was a comedy scene where Haverhill Massachusetts was mentioned involving Nathaniel Ward who had just come back from the 'new world'. I presume 'Ward Hill' is named after this guy. My old school is named after his brother Samuel Ward. It would be great to actually perform the play in Haverhill Massachusetts(for those who would be interested). It even had Henry viii and Anne of Cleves in it! It was quite a success with the people of the town. It was written by a local historian Michael Horne. Maybe you've heard of him. Maybe not. Who knows.I am only 19 so I and I'm sure I'll get the chance to visit one day but in the mean time I'll check it out on the web.
PS We even had a Haverhill national anthem for the end where we waved the Haverhill flag I designed.

Comments:   One other thought to share. A couple of years ago I was fortunate enough to be reading the "Old Faithful" Haverhill Gazette and came accross some advance publicity for a "Wood School Reunion". As someone who was raised in Bradford, the first thing that came to my mind was the grammer school, you know, grades 1 through 4. Well by God, that's exactly what the article was about. BUT, what I discovered when I attended this function was much more than a grammer school reunion. It was actually a neighborhood reunion. Can you believe it!? But due to the efforts of many people from that part of Haverhill, including some of my old chums, they put this together every three (I believe) years. I am now on their mailing list and I still get my Gazette delivered by mail, so I keep watching. It was one of the best times and it was so great to see not only the kids I went to school with, but their brothers and sister as well as their parents. Let me tell you, the girl next door was something to remember!! But the fact that certain people take an effort to put such a thing together, and many people (some from accross the country) make it an effort to attend, "A Bradford Neighborhood Reunion" speaks volumns about the area and the times we grew up in as well as the people we grew up with. Keep up the good work Phil, Joe, and crew!!! See you guys next reunion!

Mr. Galaca, I don't know if you are fully aware of what you have created here, but it is not only a highly informative site for people trying to get information about the city itself, but a means in which people can get back in touch with not only old friends and relatives, but with themselves as well! A place where they can get in touch with where they came from and what was valuable and importnat to them during that time. Which afterall is a major factor in who, what, and where they are today. For those visitors who were born and/or grew up in Haverhill, be sure to take the time and read ALL the stories in the "Remember When" section. And as your reading them, and memories of specific buildings or busineses come dancing by, remember something else. It wasn't just those places that made Haverhill a great place for memories, it was the people and what they stood for and what they taught us, who made those places memorable too!
