Comments: Am glad to see Winnikenni photo shows some restoration. Grandparents house across street on corner of Kenoza Ave from entrance and remember skating and sledding on pond and lighted cross at Christmas on tower. Always climbed hill through woods to go to the playground. Saddened when fire occurred back in late60s early 70s although the place was boarded up since I can remember back from mid 50s. Glad to see it's no longer just a shell.

I lived on the lower part of 11th Ave. I heard they are building some houses where the old Clover Leaf dairy was. I used to live right behind it. I was in Haverhill on leave in March. I found your site in the fall of 2000, was very impressed, and
signed the guest book. I checked the letters every so often and
then got away from it. Thinking about it today, I couldn't remember
the web site. I typed in HaverhillMA.com but came up with something
else. I remembered you had photos of Haverhill and typed in "photos
of Haverhill MA". Thankfully I got your site. I wish the
other site would have a link to your site. I read your history
of the city and learned more than we studied in school. Back then
I wasn't much interested in history although I enjoyed the school
trips to The Buttonwoods and John Greenleaf Whitter's House.
I went to Groveland St.School (1-3), Crowell School (4-6). Sniley
School (7), and back to Crowell for the 8th grade. I graduated
from Haverhill High School in 1954. My maiden name was Nancy Earl,
I have a younger sister Barbara Jean Earl and a younger brother
John Earl. In 1955 we moved to Rochester, NH. That November I
married Melvin Saltzman (a 1956 Haverhill Trade School grad.)
After I wrote too you in 2000, I got a couple of e-mails from
people that knew my brother. I thought that was great.
I'll tell you something else that's great. When I was growing
up, we always went to Salisbury Beach for a Tripoli's pizza and
can still do that. My brother buys it by the trayfull and takes
it home (Berwick, ME) The other day, comming home from Boston,
I got off Rte. 93 at the Methuen Rte. 110 exit to see if Bea's
Sandwich shop was still there, it was and we had their famous
cutlet sandwich I remember from high school years. They only had
one shop in Lawrence then and they branched out and even had one
in Haverhill, almost to the Plastow line on Rte. 125. So much
has changed in Haverhill. When I was young we lived on Coffin
Ave. (near the Groveland Bridge), my father had a apple orchid
out back on Old Ferry Rd. There was the orchid in the back and
a good sized vegetable garden in the front. He used to sell the
produce to markets. Now there's an appartment complex were that
all was. My mother in law had a farm with quite a bit of acreage
on East Broadway. This borded the Merrimac River on the backside.
Today the piece along the river,where the cows grazed, is where
Red Slavit's Marina is.
I guess I got carried off, your site brings back so many memories.

a visit in 1996 ..
My grandfather is buried in Haverhill asnf my mother still lives
there.
I am from Quebec on my dads side and from DAVIS on my mothers'
side.
I hope to bring my wife back there one day and show her where
I was living when I came from the Hale hospital in 1940..
